About this experience

Ever wondered what it is like to work in a Blacksmith Shop? Join our Blacksmith, Tony Huntley, for a behind-the-scenes tour of the shop before trying your hand at the tools of the trade. Participants will be immersed into the world of 19th century blacksmithing with all the sights, smells and sounds that go along with it. This 6-hour workshop is adaptable for beginners and those with experience. Will you have have it takes to shape iron into a work of art?


This experience includes:



  • 6-hour workshop with the Heritage Artisan; plus 45-minute lunch break and 15-minute afternoon break

  • 10% discount to McDaniel's Tea Room

  • Demonstration and hands-on learning session with Artisan

  • Your very own piece of history to take home with you


Please note that this experience will not be available on hot days when forget can't be lit. Refund or reschedule will be offered, or you are welcome to pick a back-up experience with another Artisan.


To make the most of this experience, we suggest planning ahead. Here are a few things to keep in mind:



  • Please arrive by 9:45am and check-in at the Visitor Reception Centre. Staff will direct you to the Blacksmith Shop.

  • Participants are welcome to bring their own packed lunch or enjoy a lunch at the Tea Room with your discount.

  • For safety reasons, wear closed toed shoes and pants. Aprons will be issued by the Blacksmith.

  • This experience will take place rain or shine.

  • Bring a water bottle and water dispensers are available to fill up.


*Participants must be age 16 and up. Maximum capacity for this workshop is 3 people. All tools and materials are provided for use during this program.


Dates: 2025 dates to be announced. Reservations must be made at least 48 hours in advance. 


 


Cancellation Policy


Cancellations made less than 48 hours prior are non-refundable. Participants will be notified, when possible, 48 hours in advance if experience is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.


Late arrival will not be allotted additional time for their workshop. There is no guarantee that the product will be completed by the end of the workshop.

  1. I the Blacksmith Shop wheel-chair accessible?Yes, the Blacksmith Shop is wheel-chair accessible. Please notify the Village of any accessibility needs when booking the workshop to ensure the Artisan can make any necessary adjustments to the space.

  3. What if I arrive late for my workshop?We understand sometimes a buggy can get stuck in the mud. If you think you are going to be late, please send us a message to let us know.
