Come discover the grit, ingenuity, and camaraderie that built the province's timber industry. With demonstrations, living history, and family-friendly activities throughout the day, the Sawmill Frolic is a lively celebration of Nova Scotia's rich logging heritage.

Make your way to the mill pond Saturday afternoon at the MacDonald Brothers Sawmill for one of the Sawmill Frolic's most exciting attractions! 

Hosted by Wild Axe Productions, our log rolling showcase features a variety of thrilling events, including traditional birling, lightning-fast speed rolling, and daring boom running demonstrations. 

Watch competitors test their balance, agility, and nerve on the water in a lively celebration of the skills and spirit of Nova Scotia's logging heritage.

... and for the truly adventurous, the chance to test your own skills may just roll on in. Dress appropriately!

Lumber Camp Cookout
Friday, July 10th

Gather at the newly restored Sherbrooke Village Lumber Camp on the shores of Sherbrooke Lake for an old-fashioned Lumber Camp Cookout! 

From 5–7 pm on Friday evening, enjoy a traditional supper of ham and beans, roasted carrots and turnips, fresh brownbread, and gingerbread cake with lemon sauce for dessert. As the aroma of supper drifts beneath the spruce, Danny Kirk and John O'Brien will bring out the guitars for a lively evening of songs, stories, and good company. 

Bring your family and friends, pull up a seat by the camp, and experience the warmth and hospitality of Nova Scotia's lumbering past. Refreshments are included. Adult beverages are for purchase.
